Athabasca Riverfront Parks

Athabasca Riverfront Parks

You can imagine the people who historically worked at this gathering place by walking along the Riverfront Boardwalk with interprtive signage along Rotary Way, which runs on the south bank of the Athabasca River.  A paved portion of the Rotary Way is wheelchair accessible and also available for walkers, bike riders and careful skate boarders.

Picnic tables and benches placed along the walk make an ideal stopping place for nature appreciation, or a lunch break.  Parking is plentiful, and access is ideal for campers and RV's.  Enjoy the plant beds of local shrubs, wildflowers, and boreal trees.

Gaze at the murals and catch the new perennial flowerbed established by the Athabasca Heritage Society in fall 2001.

These parks are home to the Magnificent River Rats Festival held every year on Canada Day.

Opened in late 2007 the Athabasca Riverfont also includes a spray park donated by the Athabasca Rotary Club, and a skateboard park donated by the Athabasca Skateboard Association.
