Water Consumption Statistics

 

Did You Know... Over the past year, households in Athabasca consumed a monthly average of 15 m3(cubic metres) of water from June through September and an average of 13 m3 of water from October through May.

 

Water Consumption Report

A report of water consumption in the Town of Athabasca shows that over the past year, residential households consumed a monthly average of 15 m3(cubic metres) of water through the summer months of June through September (2011) and a monthly average of 13 m3 of water from October (2011) through May (2012).

Residents can review the water consumption figures specific to their household by checking their town utility bills for each respective billing period. Current water rates are listed on the utility bills and can also be viewed on the Town website at this link: Utility Rates

 

Town Totals

Total residential water consumption in the town from June 2011 through May 2012 came to 184,749.3 m3, for an average monthly total of 15,395.8 m3.

Total commercial consumption for the same period came to 69,546.5 m3, for a monthly average of 5,595.5 m3.

Total industrial consumption came to 9,536.3 m3, for a monthly average of 794.7 m3.

Total institutional consumption came to 46,063.2 m3, for a monthly average of 3,838.6 m3.

 

Water conservation encouraged

All who use water in the Town of Athabasca are reminded that water has become a very precious resource. All efforts to use water conservatively are encouraged and appreciated. Town residents are also invited to take advantage of two rebate programs designed to support water conservation: the Rain Barrel Rebate Program and the Toilet Rebate Program.

Qualifying residents can receive a $20 rebate per rain barrel and a $50 toilet rebate when replacing older, less efficient toilets with new, low flow models. Rebates are subject to the requirements outlined on the respective application forms. More information and application forms are available at the Town Office.
