Town of Athabasca
Undeveloped Land
Did You Know?
…There is a large amount of undeveloped land in town. About 600 acres or more of it is privately owned.
Onus on owners to develop undeveloped property in town
There is a large amount of undeveloped land within the town boundaries. About 600 acres or more of it is privately owned and subject to the owners’ plans for development.
Running adjacent to the Cornwall subdivision, there is in excess of 100 acres of land suitable for residential development.
More than 250 acres are located in the Wood Heights area of town. Some of the land is highway commercial and some residential.
At the south end of town, adjacent to the existing industrial park, there are about 250 acres of undeveloped land suitable for highway commercial or industrial use.
Additionally, the Town has a fair amount of unserviced land across the river. To date, there has been little interest in developing the land across the river, due in part to the present lack of services there. However, when the day comes that the old bridge is replaced, a water and sewer corridor may be included and the possibility of developing the property will be revisited.
