Town Bids Farewell to CAO Maier

It is with mixed feelings that members of Athabasca Town Council, staff and administration bid farewell to Town Chief Administrative Officer Ryan Maier as Ryan is leaving his position with the Town for other employment.

Many are sorry to see Ryan go, but the good news is that he is staying in the community. His last day with the Town is August 6. He begins a new job on August 11 as the CAO for Athabasca County.

“We like this community,” says Ryan. “The position with the County is an opportunity to make an employment change while staying here.”

While Ryan is familiar with the CAO role, he realizes that the dynamics of a municipality the size and breadth of Athabasca County will be different from those of the Town and will come with their own unique set of demands and challenges. He is looking forward to the experience.

Mayor Roger Morrill acknowledges Ryan for his service to the Town.

“Athabasca Town Council appreciates the outstanding effort Ryan has provided these past two years as our CAO,” says Roger. “We wish Ryan well in his future endeavors and look forward to working with him in his new role as Athabasca County's CAO.”
Before leaving on August 6th, Ryan is helping with preparations to begin the search for his replacement.
