Strategic Plan

Did You Know . . . The Town Strategic Plan for 2012 has been prepared, giving Town Council, Administration and Outside Services a clear set of priorities to work through in the coming year.

Strategic Plan Overview

The Town of Athabasca Strategic Plan for 2012 has been prepared and provides Town Council, Administration and Outside Services with a clear set of priorities to work through in the coming year.

The plan identifies a series of immediate priorities as well as some items to follow up with at later dates.

Each item in the plan includes action steps plus who is to complete the action step and the target completion dates for each of the steps.

Projects on the priority list include research into making more industrial land available, paving and road construction projects, additional Riverfront development, research into a new Community Development website, and research and planning for development of the land formerly occupied by the old ice arena and curling rink.

Some of the projects will move through the action steps as defined in the plan, while others are subject to upcoming 2012 budget deliberations.

Action steps for additional projects currently listed in the plan will be determined following another planning session. Items in this section include planning for a new library and discussion regarding trails, campgrounds, an access road from the highway to the industrial park, and projects for the Planning and Development Committee to look into.

Further items in the plan cover a series of standard operational activities.

Later priorities include the topic of annexation, as well as playgrounds. Some action on the playgrounds item is currently in process.

Residents will receive a copy of the Town Strategic Plan with their Town utility bills. The plan can also be viewed online at: Town of Athabasca Strategic Plan 2012
