Riverfront Update

Did You Know... The first phase of the Riverfront development project is nearing completion, with some landscaping and work on the Rotary Centennial Brick trail yet to be done. More development will follow as the Town budget allows.

Athabasca Riverfront takes shape

The first phase of the Athabasca Riverfront development project is nearing completion, with some of the landscaping and work on the Rotary Centennial Brick trail planned for next spring.

Further riverfront development is anticipated, subject to the Town’s 2012 budget deliberations.

The upgrades this year included basic grading and contouring of the area, asphalt, the parking and driving area, curb and gutter, water lines and storm sewer.

As next year’s budget allows, work on the next phase of the project may include entrance gates, landmarks to simulate historic structures, and some further landscaping.

Town Council may consider a third phase of riverfront development, but not until after the Alberta Transportation Highway 55/813 interchange reconstruction project has been completed. Alberta Transportation expects this project to be finished in October 2013.
