2013 Operating Budget, Town of Athabasca

The Town of Athabasca has passed the 2013 Operating Budget and it is available for review on the Town website.

The online document includes a summary page for the 2013 budget as well as detailed listings of the budgeted revenue and expenses for each Town department for both 2012 and 2013, as well as the 2012 actual (unaudited) figures.

The following highlights are noted in the summary:

 

  • The 2013 Budget is $1,812 (0.03%) higher than the 2012 budget, and 6.3% below the unaudited actual – these figures do not include school and lodge foundation requisitions.
  • The budget is based on no increase to the municipal mill rate.
  • There is a 12.4% increase in the education tax requisition – that is an additional $110,592.
  • Due to the increase in assessment and the education tax requisition, the average single family residential home will see an increase of $118.75 over the average 2012 property tax bill.
  • The budget includes increases to water and sewer rates to reduce the overall operating deficit from $170,757 to $55,624 in the water and sewer functions.
