Coffee With Council sessions coming soon

Town residents and business owners will soon have the opportunity to engage with members of Athabasca Town Council during informal “Coffee With Council” sessions set to begin early in the New Year.

“Council has approved a pilot project of open times for the public to come to the Town Office and meet informally with councillors in the council chambers over coffee and snacks,” says Councillor Christine Nelson. “The first one will be scheduled for early in the New Year.”

If the first two events prove to be successful, Coffee With Council sessions will be held regularly.

“Not all councillors will be able to be present at all sessions,” Christine explains, “but these sessions will provide opportunities for more general discussions between councillors and community members.”

All members of the Athabasca public are welcome and invited to attend. The sessions will occur during regular Town Office hours, allowing Athabasca business people to stop in for coffee.

“Also, questions that are better dealt with by Town administration can be addressed during office hours,” notes Christine.

Once the dates have been confirmed for the first two Coffee With Council sessions, they will be announced and members of the community will be advised and invited.
